Bengaluru: Three teenagers who went for a swim in a lake here met a watery grave on Thursday.

The incident occurred at the Doddagubbi lake under Kothanur Police station limits where the five friends had been for a swim on Thursday. Three among them — identified as Imran Pasha(17), Mubarak (16), and Shaheed (16) — died after drowning in the lake, police said.

As per sources, Imran had been to the lake last week and posted photos of the same on Instagram. On Thursday, be brought along 4 of his friends to the same spot for merriment. At the lake, Imran forced Mubarak and Shaheed, who did not know how to swim, to get into the water, sources said.

Unable to swim, the trio met a tragic end.  Abdul Rehman and Shaheel who were on the shores called the police and their parents informing them about the tragedy.

Firefighters were called in for a rescue operation. However, the operation had to be stopped after nightfall. The bodies of the deceased were fished out on Friday morning after the search operation resumed after daybreak.
