Mangalore Varsity hijab row: Two students respond to show cause notice by University College

Mangaluru: Two of the three girl students have submitted their response to a show-cause notice issued by the principal of the University College here in the wake of the hijab controversy, the college said.
One among them attended classes on Saturday, the other remained absent. The third student hasn’t responded to the notice, college authorities added.
At present, evaluation of BCom examinations is underway at the college. So, undergraduate classes are being held in online mode. Only the post-graduate classes are being held offline. The answer paper evaluations will continue from Monday, said University College Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai said.
She also said that no complaint has been received regarding the Friday clashes between student groups at the college.
Meanwhile, police said 6 students –identified as Mazooq, Abubakar Siddique, Mohammad Ripaz, Prajan Shetty, Swastik, and Gurukiran — have been booked for the Friday’s clashes over fixing VD Savarkar’s photograph in the classroom.
