PSI recruitment scam: Police constable arrested; Total arrests reaches 42

Kalaburagi: CID arrested another cop in the PSI recruitment exam scam case, taking the total arrests to 42.

Ismail Jamadar, a police constable was arrested on Saturday night, sources said. He is being interrogated about the irregularities by using a Bluetooth device at the New Nobel School.

Arrests limited to small fish?

There are allegations and suspicions that higher officials are involved in the recruitment scam. In the beginning, CID had arrested several high-profile figures in the case.

There were expectations that the investigation team might investigate and /or question higher police officials. However, it is said that the pace of the investigation has slowed down and the CID has shown no interest in questioning higher officials in the matter.

Bail application rejected:

Meanwhile, courts have refused bail to the accused in the case. The first Additional District Court here rejected the bail pleas of 8 accused including the alleged kingpin R D Patil, BJP leader Divya Hagaragi, Congress leader Mahantesh Patil, JE of irrigation department Mallikarjun Melakundi.
