Belagavi: Netizens fume over viral video of tractor tug of war endangering public life

A video of a tug-of-war competition between two tractors in Chamakeri village in Athni here has gone viral on social media, triggering a public outcry.
Purportedly, the video shows the tug of war between two tractors organized as part of the village fair of Lord Beeralingeshwara of Chamakeri village.
As the competition proceeds, one of the tractors overturns near the crowd that gathered to watch the event. People run helter-skelter to avoid being crushed under the tractor. Fortunately, none were hurt in the incident.
The dangerous sport organized without any precautions invited the ire of netizens. Online users criticized the organizers for their negligent attitude towards public safety.
Soon after the video went viral, the District Superintendent of police sought information on the matter. CPI Shankar Gowda rushed to Chamakeri village and took stock of the matter.
Based on the video, police have registered a suo moto case at the Aigali station and are continuing the investigation.
