Bengaluru: A woman’s gang that robbed houses posing as maids has been arrested by Bengaluru police. Interestingly, they created a public Facebook group to identify their next targets in the city.
Three women, identified as Priyanka Rajesh Mogre (29), Mahadevi (26), and Vanita Gaikwad (37), have been arrested for house thefts. About 250 grams of gold jewelry, 100 grams of silver items, and other valuables were confiscated from them, police said.
The arrests were made in the theft case at the home of Aravind in Hennur.
Aravind had hired Mahadevi, who put forth a pseudo name of ‘Subbalakshmi’, as a domestic help using a Facebook page called “Refer House Maids, Bangalore”. Three days after joining work, Mahadevi went missing along with valuables from the house on May 6. Later Aravaind raised a police complaint.
Hennur police said that the trio worked together to pull off the heist.
Police said the investigation found that the women had created a Facebook page to find targets for their next crime. It was also revealed that the trio were habitual offenders and featured on the Mumbai police’s “most wanted list”.
