Kottigehara: It was a miraculous escape for passengers of a car in Devaramane, Kottigehara as a seemingly angry tusker charged towards their vehicle.

It is said that the car toppled and fell into a ditch after the tusker attack.

All the passengers had a narrow escape as they got out of the vehicle in time and ran away from the elephant. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The wild elephant menace is rising in Chikmagalur and managing the tuskers is giving headaches to the Karnataka Forest Department personnel.

The locals have complained that they damage crops and attack those who come in their way. However, forest officials have assured the villagers of taking steps to curb the jumbo menace.
