Gadag: A scam has come to light in the recently held recruitment examination for Junior Assistant in the KPTCL. Two persons from Ganda have reportedly been arrested by police for allegedly leaking the exam paper.
The accused identified as Maruthi Sonawane, the vice-principal of Gadag Municipal College, and his son Samit Kumar have been taken into custody by Belagavi Cyber Crime Police.
The exam for recruiting KPTCL Junior assistants was held on Sunday, August 7, throughout the state including at 21 examination centres in the twin cities of Gadag-Bettageri. Gadag Municipal College was one among them. It is alleged that the father and son duo had joined hands to leak the question paper.
Before the start of the examination, it is alleged that Samit Kumar came to the examination centre at the municipal college posing as a journalist. He reportedly took photos of the question papers on his mobile phone. The cyber police suspect that the photos captured on the mobile phone may have been sent to different examination centres in the state.
However, even after searches police are yet to find the mobile phone of the accused. The police on Sunday questioned the principal of the college in this regard, sources said.
Meanwhile, Belagavi police are continuing their investigations to find the culprits behind the question paper leak.
