Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra on Tuesday, August 30 declared a holiday for schools, colleges, and anganavadis within city limits on September 2.
The decision was taken considering the safety of students as there is a possibility of traffic disruption due to Ganesh Visarjan.
The order also stated that schools can conduct classes on any other public holiday to compensate for the academic loss.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will so be visiting Mangaluru on the same day.
