Chikkamagaluru: Brain dead girls’ heart donated to patient in Bengaluru

Chikkamagaluru: The organ donation process of a girl named Rakshitha, who was declared brain dead after falling off a moving bus on Wednesday, September 21, is successfully carried out on Thursday, September 22.
With the permission of her parents, a total of nine organs were retrieved by the expert team of doctors in the Chikkamagaluru District Hospital, today morning.
Reportedly, Rakshitha’s heart is donated to a heart patient at Bengaluru’s Manipal Hospital.
The organ is successfully retrieved and sent to Bengaluru through a helicopter.
Earlier, Rakshitha, a resident of Somanahalli’s Tandya of Kadur taluk had fallen from a moving bus. Due to the impact, she suffered a severe head injury and was declared brain dead by doctors.
Her parents Lakshmibai (mother) and Suresh (father) decided to donate her organs.
Rakshitha was pursuing academics at Government PU College of Basavanahalli.
