NIA conducts raid on PFI in Kalaburagi and Davangere; detains two, another escapes

Davangere: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday, September 22, conducted raids on the Popular Front of India (PFI) in Davangere and Kalaburagi in which, two persons are detained and one has managed to escape.
From Davangere, an M.C.B Block resident Imamuddin, and Harihara resident Tahir are detained and subjected to interrogation.
As per the interim investigative reports of the NIA, Imamuddin is the former PFI Davangere district president.
NIA is currently interrogating the duo based on the links that they have with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the PFI.
NIA raid in Kalaburagi
In Kalaburagi, the NIA detained the PFI district president and resident of Tipu Sultan Chowk, Sheikh Ejaz Ali. While raiding the residence of PFI state committee member Shahid Naseer, he managed to flee the spot.
Reports suggest that the NIA officers have recovered crucial evidence including documents, letters, and Rs. 15 lakhs cash from Ejaz’s residence.
Meanwhile, the NIA officials have begun search operations for Naseer.
It is learned that thousands of people gathered in front of Ejaz’s residence and protested against the Central government and NIA.
Protesters were heard sloganeering and condemning the Central government for allegedly targeting a particular community.
