Terror suspect brought to Navoor: Was loud bang heard recently related to blast rehearsals?

Bantwal: Many speculations have started circulating after the terror suspect arrested by Shivamogga police was brought to Navoor for a Mahazar of the purported site of bomb rehearsals allegedly carried out. Locals now have raised suspicions whether the loud bang heard by a local in the Kudru area on the Netravati River nearby was due to these bomb experiments.

Locals of the area are well aware of the illegal explosives (Thotte in local parlance) that were used for catching fish, despite the ban on their use. However, a loud bang, unlike any of ‘thotte’ blast, was heard about a month ago had reportedly piqued people’s curiosity.

A local resident who had heard the loud noise had mentioned it to his friends. He allegedly heard a loud blast that was unlike any he had heard from the ‘thotte’ blasted underwater. The underwater blast usually creates less noise as the sound is muted. He claimed that the explosive must have accidentally exploded above water.

The residents had also believed the blast noise to be the handiwork of those fishing using the banned method.

After terror suspect Maz Muneer Ahmed (22) was brought to the Kudru region, locals now suspect the loud noise could be from the blast.
