Malali Mosque row: Civil Court to pronounce verdict on Nov 9

Mangaluru: In relation to the Malali Mosque Row, the III Additional Civil Court will be pronouncing its verdict on Wednesday, November 9.

The dispute began after a Hindu temple-like structure was found at the Juma Masjid at Malali during its renovation in April this year.

Following the discovery, VHP and other Hindu organizations had demanded a full probe and a survey through a court-appointed commissioner. A petition was filed by T A Dhananjaya and B A Manoj Kumar in the III Additional Civil Court in Mangaluru seeking a survey of the mosque.

In response, the masjid management committee countered the contentions. The maintainability of the original suit was also questioned on the basis that the property where the Mosque stands belonged to the Waqf Board and the matter must be heard by the Waqf-related court.

In June this year, the Karnataka High Court had directed the Mangaluru-based lower court not to pronounce its verdict on the maintainability of an original suit that sought to survey a local mosque.
