Bengaluru police have filed a 193-page charge sheet in the death case of a four-year-old autistic child who was thrown off the fourth floor of an apartment complex here.

The incident had taken place on August 4. The CCTV footage of the incident showed the four-year-old’s mother Sushma throwing her child from the balcony. Police arrested Sushma after her husband Kiran filed a complaint in this regard.

A dentist by profession, Sushma had told the police that she was depressed as the child was suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which proved to be an impediment to her career growth.

The police charge-sheet submitted to the 9th ACMM court on November 3 mentions that Sushma was tired of the sarcastic remarks made by relatives about Duthee’s condition. Moreover, she was not able to focus on her career as Duthee needed to be taken to the hospital regularly for therapy.

Fed up with all this she had tried to abandon the child on a train at Majestic station On July 20 and lied to Kiran that she had gone missing. She was traced later at Yelahanka with the help of railway personnel.

Later Sushma decided to kill Duthee and herself. On August 4 she threw Dutee from the balcony of their house and tried to commit suicide herself. She however hesitated from jumping off the balcony.

The police examined 34 witnesses, including three eyewitnesses and recoreded their statements in the chargesheet. Also the CCTV footage of the incident as well as of July 20 when Sushma was seen abandoning her child have been submitted as evidence.

Initial reports had claimed that Sushma was depressed at the time of the incident. However doctors who examined her have in their report said that she was mentally healthy.
