Udupi: Beware, when you click any innocent-looking link sent to your mobile phone! Cyber frauds may fleece money from gullible persons. A man who recently clicked a link received on his mobile phone advertising a part-time job lost more than Rs one lakh.
Bharat, a resident of Udupi has lodged a complaint at the CEN police station about the fraud.
The complainant said he had received a message on his mobile phone from an unknown number. The message had a link about a part-time online job.
After clicking the link, Bharat claimed, he was asked to create a log-in id after which a wallet was created. He was asked to pay for the services. The fraudsters coaxed the victim into paying them money using Google Pay as charges for different ‘non-existent’ services.
By the time the complainant realized the scam, he had transferred a whopping Rs 1,01,670/-.
