Kumpala: Teenager who consumed poison, dies at hospital

Ullal: In a tragic incident, a teenager who ingested pesticide in an attempt to end her life, breathed her last at a hospital on February 19.

The deceased has been identified as Dhanya (17), the eldest daughter of Somanatha and Bhavya, of Tamil Nadu origin and residents of Kumpala’s Ashraya Colony.

Dhanya was a second PU student at Ramakrishna College in the city. She had reportedly consumed pesticide on February 14 after her mother scolded her for leaving home without informing anyone.

It is said that after the incident Dhanya consumed the termite pesticide that was kept in the house when her mother left for work. She was found ill later and was rushed to a hospital.

Dhanya passed away without responding to treatment on Sunday morning.
