Mangaluru: The organizers of the ‘Rang Da Barsa’ event, which was attacked by vigilantes, said that permission was obtained from the police for the organization of the event and the event was organized by Hindus.

In a press conference at the Press Club here on Tuesday, one of the organizers Jeevan condemned the attack on the “legally held” event.

The event was held on open ground in the city without any cover-up. Holi is a Hindu religious ritual. Since Mangaluru is an education hub, students from different states studying here along with their families were allowed to participate in the program, he said.

The program has been held 6 times already and the traditional Holi was celebrated in a slightly entertaining manner and there was no room for any kind of immorality here, he added.

The event was scheduled to be held last month but was postponed due to the heat wave and was organized on March 26. In addition to entertainment, it also provided employment opportunities for setting the stage, soundtracks, catering, musicians, and various stalls. Tickets for the event were also sold online, he said.

He also raised questions on the law and order situation if such miscreants are allowed to take law into their own hands. Jeevan also demanded strict action against the miscreants so that such incidents do not repeat in the future.

Arjun and Sujir Vinod were present at the event.
