Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a young woman jumped off a bike taxi after the driver tried to molest her on the moving motorbike and tried to take her to a place different from her destination.

According to police, the incident took place on April 21. The woman had booked the ride through the Rapido app at around 11 pm. The driver who arrived to pick her up allegedly snatched the woman’s phone, claiming that he had to check the OTP and did not return it to her. Then he started driving in the opposite direction to where the woman wanted to reach.

The complainant said that the driver also tried sexually harassing her on the moving bike. In a panic, the woman jumped off the speeding motorbike near Abrar BMS College in Yalakhanka. The college staff who were nearby helped the victim, however, the bike taxi driver fled from the spot.

The police said they have arrested the accused, identified as 27-year-old Deepak Rao from Andhra Pradesh. He has now been remanded to judicial custody.
