A fishing boat named Durgaparameshwari Rukmayya, owned by Sandeep Tholar from Bengre, encountered an accident while fishing at the Parampalli Padukare seashore in Saligrama Panchayat on Wednesday evening.

The boat’s engine malfunctioned, possibly due to a stuck fan, causing it to drift towards the shoreline amidst strong winds. Despite the efforts of nearby boats to help, the boat collided with the shore’s deck.

Fortunately, all the workers on board were safely rescued by the crew of a neighboring boat, preventing any casualties. However, the boat itself, along with its valuable catch of fish worth several lakhs of rupees and the tools, sank, resulting in an estimated loss of around Rs 12 lakhs.
