B’luru: 132 children of an apartment fall ill after drinking contaminated water

Bengaluru: As many as 132 children of an apartment took ill after drinking contaminated water here.
The children, happen to be residents of Mahaveer Ranch Apartment under Parappana Agrahara police jurisdictional limits. Following the incident, the apartment residents filed a case against the apartment owner and manager.
The incident took place on Wednesday. The children began vomiting and were sick with fever, and diarrhea after they drank the water. They were immediately rushed to a hospital and the condition of six children is said to be serious. Their health is being monitored while the other children are being treated at home, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the water tanks at the apartment had not been cleaned for three years resulting in contamination. Police said that a team of six or seven doctors stayed in the apartment to monitor the children’s health. A case has been registered at Parappana Agrahara police station.
