Mangaluru: City police have taken serious note of dangerous trend of passengers travelling on the footboards of buses.

On Thursday a special drive was held in which 123 cases were booked against buses for allowing passengers to travel on footboards.

Moreover, another round of meetings was held with the bus operators, who agreed not to move the bus when people are standing on footboards when there are no doors. Buses with doors should close them for passenger safety before the bus moves.

The move comes following the death of a bus conductor after falling from a moving bus. The deceased,  Eeraiah (Guru), fell off a moving bus on Wednesday. The scenes of the accident were making rounds on  social media.
