Bengaluru: Police produced Hindutva activist Chaitra Kundpura and her accomplices before the First APMC Court in Bengaluru on Wednesday in connection with a cheating case. They have been remanded to judicial custody for 10 days till September 23.
Along with Chaitra, the other accused Srikanth, Gagan, Ramesh, Prajwal, and Dhanraj were also remanded to judicial custody for 10 days.
In the court, Chaitra reportedly broke down in tears in front of the judge and said that she was “being mistreated by the police”.
Govinda Babu Poojary, a businessman from Byndoor, had lodged a complaint with the Bandepalya police station in Bengaluru against Chaitra and eight others. Chaitra and her associates are accused of fleecing money from the businessman in the guise of getting him a BJP ticket to contest from the Byndoor Assembly constituency.
Bengaluru CCB police took her into custody on Tuesday night.
It was revealed that Chaitra had bought an expensive car and was leading a luxurious life before the fraud case came to light.
