Continuous rainfall, thunderstorms disrupt life in Udupi district

The Udupi district has experienced three consecutive days of relentless rainfall, with intense thunderstorms on Tuesday night.
Areas including Malpe, Manipal, Parkala, Udupi, and their surroundings witnessed persistent rain throughout the night and many places suffered power outages.
In an unfortunate incident, lightning struck the house of Vijaya in Palli, Karkala, causing damage.
On Wednesday night, rain persisted in various parts of Udupi district, including Mangalore, Sullia, Subrahmanya, Belthangady, and Puttur. The day saw a mix of sunshine and clouds, with Mangalore recording a maximum temperature of 30.6°C, slightly above the normal range. The minimum temperature was also 1°C above normal, measuring at 24.1°C.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a forecast warning of heavy rainfall in coastal areas. A yellow alert has been issued on Nov 9.
