Mangaluru: The city is mourning the loss of a hometown hero, Captain Pranjal, who bravely sacrificed his life in a gunbattle with terrorists in Rajouri. As friends and classmates reminisce, a portrait of a remarkable individual emerges—a man whose dedication to service and love for his country defined his character.

Early Days and Inspirations

Captain Pranjal, the cherished son of former MRPL managing director Venkatesh and Anuradha, spent his formative years at DPS School near MRPL. Described as a disciplined and academically inclined student, he shone in the realms of science, showcasing his prowess through numerous state and national-level projects, securing accolades along the way. His friends recall his passionate involvement in science exhibitions and his relentless pursuit of knowledge.

“Pranjal and I met when I was in the third grade. We used to go to science project exhibitions together,” reminisces Aditya Sai Srinivas, who is employed in Italy. He fondly remembers, “Inspirational photos of the Indian Air Force and light fighter aircraft adorned his room. His love for his country was palpable even then.”

A Call to Serve

The seeds of patriotism were sown early in Pranjal’s life, evident through his active participation in youth organizations like the Cubs and Scouts. His passion for serving the nation led him to aspire to join the armed forces—a dream he pursued fervently. Leaving behind a promising academic pursuit at RV College, he took a leap to join the esteemed National Defence Academy (NDA), a testament to his unwavering determination.

“Pranjal had a seriousness that others lacked. His commitment to serving the country was evident even in our school days,” recalls a classmate, Varsha Shetty, reflecting on his dedication.

As he walked the path of valor, Capt. Pranjal’s commitment to the nation remained steadfast. His sacrifice echoes a profound sense of duty and selflessness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His family, friends, and acquaintances recount his virtues—his leadership, his respect for elders, and, above all, his deep-rooted love for his country.

A Lasting Tribute

“Pranjal always kept everyone in mind, even after joining the army. He wanted a reunion at school,” shares classmate Varsha Shetty, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to fostering unity among his peers.

The DPS School at Khethtur, where he spent his educational years, paid homage to their fallen alumnus, declaring a holiday in his honor.

An Eternal Remembrance

The memory of Captain Pranjal remains etched in the collective conscience of his community and the nation. His legacy embodies the values of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering patriotism.

As we bid adieu to a gallant soul, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
