Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a four-year-old girl reportedly died after falling off the third floor of a building at a preschool in Chellikere.

The deceased girl has been identified as Gianna Ann Jito.

On January 22, Gianna, a student at the preschool, suffered severe head injuries during playtime. The incident went unnoticed by school authorities, and she was later admitted to a private hospital in Hebbal locality, where she succumbed to her injuries, IANS reported.

Her parents, Jito Tomy Joseph and Binitta Thomas, both software professionals from Kerala, raised concerns about the school’s attempt to downplay and mislead them regarding the incident.

IANS quoted sources suggesting that the school authorities initially concealed the true cause of the fall. The family was initially told that Gianna hit a wall at the daycare, and vomited. Later the school admitted she had fallen from the third floor.

Gianna, a gifted child with a talent for music, singing, and painting, was allegedly afraid of heights, making her family question her presence on the terrace.

In response to the tragedy, a case has been registered against the school and its Principal under IPC Section 304A. The police investigation is underway.
