A Kadaba resident’s social media post about his interaction at the local police station when he had gone to submit details of out-station workers has gone viral.
The man, Balakrishna Bhat, who is a Right to Information activist, had sourced three labourers, hailing from Jharkhand through his relatives for work at his farm. The labourers were also being provided stay at the farmhouse. He had visited the police station to submit the identity documents of the labourers for police verification purposes as a precautionary measure.
It must be noted that the police emphasize collecting proper details of labourers, including out-station workers while recruiting them and submitting them to the nearest police station. The move is aimed at checking the past antecedents of the workers in case they have any criminal records.
However, in his post, he alleged that the on-duty constable refused to accept the documents for police verification and questioned the behaviour of the constable.
Later he spoke to the station sub-inspector who then accepted the identity documents of the labourers along with their mobile numbers, the post stated.
Clarifying the issue, the sub-inspector of the police station, Akshay Dawagi said that the problem arose as the constable was not able to understand Balakrishna Bhat. He said that all the information of the workers was obtained from Balakrishna Bhat.
