In a recent development near the Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu border, authorities initiated a search operation following the sighting of an unknown woman in the Koojimale estate area of Sullia Taluk.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday when residents of the Koojimale estate near Kalmakaru noticed an unfamiliar woman wandering in the rubber plantation of the estate around noon. Concerned locals promptly alerted the authorities, suspecting a potential connection to Naxal activities.
Upon receiving the report, the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) swiftly deployed its personnel to the area and conducted an extensive search operation. Despite their efforts, no significant leads were uncovered, and the unidentified woman reportedly disappeared into the nearby forest area.
This marks the third such instance in recent weeks. On March 16, four suspected Naxals were observed visiting a shop in the Koojimale Estate, making purchases before retreating into the forest. Subsequently, on the 23rd, authorities apprehended four suspects in Subrahmanya village of Kadaba taluk. These individuals were found to have sought refuge in a forest house in Ainekidu village, where they acquired provisions.
Following the latest sighting on the 27th, the ANF has intensified its search efforts.
