State level female students’ convention to commemorate India’s first lady teacher

Bengaluru: Student Federation of India (SFI) is organizing a state level female students’ convention in Bengaluru to celebrate 185th birth anniversary of India’s first woman teacher Savitribai Jyotirao Phule on January 03. Savitribai Jyotirao Phule (January 3, 1831 –March 10,1897) was a teacher, social reformer and poet along with her husband, social reformer Jyotirao Phule.
The event is organized to commemorate the contributions of Savitribai who fought for gender, social equality, and spread of education among all sections of the society. Savitribai tried to empower women by providing education to them.
The event will be held at UVCE Engineering College, KR circle in the state capital and is scheduled to be inaugurated by the president of Karnataka State Women Writers Association Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi at 11.00 AM.
