Sexual Abuse: Female teachers, students file complaint against college principal in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Police case has been registered under POCSO Act against principal of a prestigious college located at Sadashivanagar in the state capital on sexual harassment complaints filed by his female students and colleagues.
The principal Kumar Thakur has been working for the college for the last five years. He used to sexually abuse the students in the name of counseling within the college building itself. The lady teachers in the college have also alleged in the complaint that the accused has been sexually abusing them for years by physically, verbally and even using social media.
The victims including teachers and students registered a complaint with the child helpline. Following the complaint received, nodal child helpline director Vasudeva Sharma recorded the statements of the victims on the incident and informed police commissioner N Praveen Sood.
Later, a complaint was registered with DCP Chandragupta and the accused arrested based on the complaint. However, the principal was released within a day after his arrest.
Meanwhile, the sources have alleged that the accused has close relation with politicians and other influential personalities. Therefore, the police department hasn’t yet made detailed inquiry in the case. The state education department is also silent over the issue.
