Bengaluru: The President of Karnataka Orthopaedic Association, Dr M. Ajith Kumar and the Secretary General, Dr Edward Nazareth strongly condemned the recent spurt in atrocities on doctors across the country in a joint press release.
While expressing anguish at the recent turn of events, they stated that doctors all over the country are carrying out their duties in extremely demanding circumstances due to the poor facilities and infrastructure in our health care system as it exists today.
They further stated that the care rendered by most doctors is of the highest standards and it is high time that the general public understands that in end stage illnesses and major accidents, death is inevitable.
Dr Ajith Kumar and Dr Edward Nazareth stated that instead of demoralising the duty conscious doctors, the public should hold the authorities and politicians answerable for our health system being in such a poor state. The harrassment and atrocities will only help to drive away the bright and sincere youngsters from taking up the medical course, which will only worsen the health system further. They appealed to the authorities to provide security in all hospitals across the state and strictly enforce the law wherever such atrocities occur.
