Karnataka Becomes India’s Most Corrupt State

Bengaluru: Karnataka state tops in the list of top 20 corrupt states of India. Karnataka state is followed by Andra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. The list is based on the corruption found in the public service sectors of the 20 states during the period of last one year.
According to the data, Indian Corruption Study (CMS-ICS) 2017, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Chhattisgarh were found with least corrupt states in the country. Also, small corruption cases recorded a downward trend during the last 12 months in the country. In 2005, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu decorated the first five positions in the most corrupt states’ list.
The bribe offered to public service sector employees, top officials starting from Rs 10 crossed thousands crores to avail public service (s), according to the data. Also, the study states that one-third of the India’s total population indulged in corruption in the last one year. However, the number of corruption cases have declined in last 12 months when compared to the statistics released by the same source in 2005.
