Man arrested for shoplifting luxury cars, SUVs

New Delhi: Police has arrested a man who allegedly shoplifted luxury cars and SUVs from self-drive car rentals in south Delhi, recovering seven stolen vehicles.
Complaints were received at Vasant Kunj (north) police station recently regarding five incidents of vehicle theft, from two foreign self-drive car rentals operating from south Delhi.
The complainants alleged that luxury cars were taken on rent by some customers on fake identity proofs and the vehicles were stolen, said Ishwar Singh, DCP (south).
Working on the cases, police gathered details about the suspects through phone numbers and descriptions provided by the complainants. A lead was received about one Mukesh Chauhan of Jalore district in Rajasthan.
A police team was sent to suspect’s village Ahore in Jalore, from where he was arrested on June 1, said the officer.
Seven luxury vehicles from Nagaland, Jaipur, Sahibabad (UP), Jalore, Jodhpur and Surat in Gujarat were recovered.
He was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jalore and his transit remand was obtained. He was produced before the concerned court and five days police remand has been obtained.
