Cauvery Issue: Farmers in Mandya, Mysuru Continue their Protests on Monday

Mandya: Farmers continued their protest for the fourth day on Monday in Mandya and Mysuru districts as the state government continued to release water from Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) reservoir to Tamil Nadu amid weak rainfall activities in the region and lower water storage level in the dam.
The protesters gathered before Mandya Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday and shouted slogans against the government. protests, demonstrations reportedly held at Pandavapura, Srirangapatna, Maddur, Mandya and other parts of the region.
Meanwhile, speaking on the farmer’s protests, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “the state government is forced to release water in the wake of a Supreme Court order. If government fails to release water as assured then, Tamil Nadu government could move to court.”
