Bengaluru: In a letter to Karnataka state government, the centre has asked to provide detailed report on recent communal violence in Dakhina Kannada and 24 murders of members of Hindu outfits for political reasons occurred in various parts of Karnataka during the last four years.

Order came in the wake of a letter from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje to the union home ministry in which she stated that the state government has failed to control communal violence in Karnataka especially Dakshina Kannada. She also urged the home ministry for a NIA probe as BJP, members of Hindu outfits are being targeted and murdered for the last 4 years in Karnataka by communal forces.

Union home ministry has also asked the state government to provide information on 24 murders, action taken by the government on the killings, present status of the murderers and others.

Meanwhile, the state government sources said that a detailed report on the issue would be sent to the union government soon after gathering information from concerned departments.
