Srinagar: Militants opened fire on a security forces’ party and managed to escape the cordon after an ambush was laid to trap the ultras in Pulwama district of Kashmir, police said today.

Security forces laid an ambush at Drubgam in Pulwama district late last night following information about possible movement of militants through the area, a police official said.

He said the militants, noticing the presence of security forces, opened fire at them and fled from the place.

There were no casualties in the incident, the official said.

Security forces carried out a search operation in the area but called it off this morning without any positive result, he added.
