Wild Elephants Destroy Acres of Rice Crop, Coffee Estate in Hassan

Hassan: Rice crop, coffee estate in more than 15 acres of land reportedly destroyed by wild elephants at Kadluru in Alur taluk of Hassan district on Saturday. The villagers have expressed their anger over inaction of the forest department on the issue and have started protests before the Alur regional forest office demanding necessary compensation for the crop damage.
The locals urged divisional deputy forest officer to immediately visit the area and handover the compensation to the villagers. The wild elephants destroyed 2 acre coffee plantation owned by HS Mohan at Kadloor while IBC Estate owned coffee trees grown on 10 acre land have been ruined completely. Exact data on loss of property is yet to be known.
