Bengaluru: The state wide bandh called by organisations and activists from north Karnataka which was scheduled for February 4th is likely to die out as the farmers contesting feel that it will be an insult to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The farmers feel that the prime minister will be humiliated by calling a bandh in his name and then seeking time from him to meet an all party delegation on Mahadayi dispute.
Shankar Ambali, secretary for the Raitha Sena said that the February 4th bandh is yet to be decided. . Considering that chief minister Siddaramaiah has assured to lead an all party delegation including farmer representatives to meet PM Modi, it would be an insult to call a bandh in the latter’s name. Until Prime Minister confirms or rejects to meet us, Bandh will not be held.
Ambali said a final decision on the matter will be taken after seeing the development of the matter in the next couple of days.
