Heart transplant saves life of a woman in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 27-year-old man gave another chance of life to a 46-year-old lady, a heart failure patient at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre – a unit managed by Narayana Health. The heart donor hails from Krishnagiri and was conceded at Apollo Hospital, on Banerghatta Road after he met with an accident and suffered head injuries on Sunday. He was declared mind dead on Tuesday after which the family agreed to give their child’s organs. The heart was recovered by a group of specialists at M.S. Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre and was transported from Apollo Hospital to M.S. Ramaiah Narayana Heart Canter, Mattikere today. The separation of 28 km was covered in 22 minutes.

The beneficiary hails from Dharwad and was experiencing dilated cardiomyopathy. The recovery of the heart from the benefactor’s body was finished by a group of three specialists from M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Center – Dr Julius Punnen, Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic and Heart Transplant, Dr Guru Patil, Anesthetist, and Dr Shilpa Rudradevaru, Cardiothoracic Surgeon.
