The 69-year-old veteran leader challenged from Chamundeshwari constituency seven times since 1983 and won five times. He later moved his electorate to Varuna in Mysuru area, from where he was chosen twice since 2008, including 2013 assembly elections.

Siddaramaiah has cleared path for his son, Yathindra, to challenge the elections from Varuna. Yathindra, who will be making a debut in politics this year also filed his nomination papers on Friday.
