Mangaluru: “The teachers have lost faith in previous government. There are several crores of grants which are pending over last five years. There are confusions in transfers and appointment of teachers, massive corruption in the department, political interference in Universities in the name of policies making, printing of text books without considering National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCRT) policies,” said MLC and BJP candidate for the South West Teachers’ constituency Captain Ganesh Karnik on Tuesday, May 22nd.

He was addressing a press meet at the district BJP office and alleged that the previous  government in the state has neglected the education field.

“When the Bharatiya Janatha Party was in power, they had sanctioned Rs 4800 crore to Rs 18666 crore for the field of education. When the BJP government was in the power it brought Kannada medium schools under various grants, filled the vacant posts, solved several problems in Morarji Desai residential schools, built the 191 degree colleges, formed Medical, Agricultural, Horticultural, Law, Music Folk and Cultural Universities in the state,” he said.

The South West Teachers’ Constituency consist’s 5 MPs, 30 assembly constituencies, out of which 27 are in the fold of the BJP. This constituency which is also well-known for better and quality education has voters from five districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikamagluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Davangere’s Honnahalli and Chennagiri Taluks.
