Ban Tulu movie ’Appe Teacher’: Women’s associations

Mangaluru: various women’s organisation members staged a protest against the Tulu movie “Appe Teacher” alleging that the movie had several scenes and dialogues which embarrass the women folk on Saturday June 2nd.
Chanchala Tejomaya, President of the Mangaluru Taluk Mahila Mandalagala Okkoota addressed the protestors and said that though the movie got big publicity, it had offended the teaching fraternity as well as women through use of cheap language. Some of the dialogues in the movie seem to be encouraging rapes. The movie should be banned, she demanded.
Merlyn Martis. President of Committee Against Atrocities on Women demanded a ban on the movie as well as those TV serials which mislead and misguide women.
Before the demonstration, women took out a protest march from Ambedkar Circle upto the DC office. A memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.
