Two bikes head-on collision kills one in Moodbidri

Moodbidri: Two bikes met with a head-on collision killing one of the riders on the state highway near Mahaveera College on Sunday. The deceased youth has been identified as Praveen Prashant Fernandes (26), a resident of Nayanadu in Bantwal.

Praveen   was on his way from Venoor to Moodbidri when the accident happened. Praveen’s bike crashed head on with Surendra’s bike at the turning near Venugoplal colony. Surendra was riding his motorcycle from Moodbidri at high speeds with a pillion (Praveen) and was attempting a turn to Venugopala colony when Praveen’s motorcycle en route towards Moodbidri met with his bike with a head-on collision.

The impact of the collision hurled Praveen on to the ground and inflicted grievous injuries on his head, face and legs. He was immediately rushed to Moodbidri hospital but in vain.

Praveen Prashant Fernandes was the son of day wage laborer Jhon Fernandes, a resident of Nayanadku Benchinadka, and was working as a wood cutter. Of the three children of Jhon, Praveen was the only son and it is said that he was not wearing a helmet when he met with the accident.

A case has been registered at Moodbidri police station.
