Cops take initiative after Ola case

Bengaluru: Following a 26-year-old woman passenger’s complaint against an Ola taxicab driver for molesting her, the police became irate about the issue. As an answer for the issue, the city police chose to take a look at the bars, wine stores and lodgings near liqour joints.
The cops’ thought process behind paying visits to alcohol shops is to prevent the growing harassment of women. Notwithstanding, the police have said that there have been no arrests made.
Police official T Suneel Kumar was very disturbed about the episode. He communicated his desolation at a meeting held at his office on Tuesday, June 5 where a DCP stated, “We were coordinated to angle out miscreants, habitual offenders and other anti-social elements from these joints. The plan behind this was for these regions to be under high alarm.”
Police sources said that pockets of Whitefield, south and southeast parts of the city, Majestic, KR Market, Shivajinagar and restaurants and alcohol joints along the Outer Ring Road were their fundamental focuses of the checks.
A senior cop said this would be a ceaseless procedure and night watch authorities have been coordinated to be on high alarm. They have additionally been told to check vehicles along the Outer Ring Road, roads leading to the airport and the central business district.
