Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan: Yekkur gets bus shelter

Mangaluru: A much-needed bus shelter at Yekkur on National Highway 66 was built by the volunteers of Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan under the auspices of Ramakrishna Mission during its 35th Shramdan here on Sunday.
The construction work on the bus stop had begun five days ago, it was completed and dedicated on Sunday. The bus shelter has hoarding having the message of Swacch Bharath. It also has concrete floor, roof and independent seats. The volunteers painted the bus shelter during the shramdan and alse cleaned the surrounding areas of the shelter.
An earthmover was used to level the ground by the highway as the volunteers removed the plastic, papers and weed in the area. The leveled spot is now being used as an autorickshaw stand. Since the spot was prone to littering by the people, it was cleaned and flower pots were placed to discourage littering.
