Girl student sports bindi; Debarred from Madrasa

Kasaragod: A Madrasa in Kozhikode has debarred a fifth standard girl student for wearing sandal bindi on her forehead.

The girl was sporting the bindi as she was portraying a role in a short film. The Madrasa took offence of this act and inhumanely expelled her.

In a Facebook post, the father of the girl student said that he is lucky that the family was not stoned for this mistake and has also strongly condemned this act.

Many users who have followed the post have also condemned the Madrasa for its act. However, some others supported the Madrasa stating that its act was justified against the erring student. Muslim girls are barred from wearing a bindi as per Shariyat law and that wearing of bindi should be treated as un-Islamic, they say.
