Mysuru: On the event of World Hepatitis Day, which is scheduled on July 28, the Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru is organizing a free Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C screening for the public from July 23 to 28.
Hepatitis B and C are viral infection which make harm the liver and can prompt both intense and chronic illness. These infections are highly contagious and are transmitted by transfusion of infected blood, contaminated needles, unprotected sex or from a infected mother to the child. The Hepatitis B and C screening is done by testing sample of blood for antigens and antibodies.
“There are more than 300 million individuals, living with viral hepatitis around the world. It is astounding to take note of that in excess of 90 percent of them, don’t realize that they are infected. We need to radically build our screening programs keeping in mind the end goal to identify such individuals and provide them with appropriate care”, said Dr Anoop Alva, Consultant Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru.
