BBMP inspector gets four years imprisonment for accepting bribe

Bengaluru: A Lokayukta court here sentenced BBMP City Revenue Inspector of R R Nagar B N Sriram to four years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3 Lakhs for accepting bribe.

BBMP Revenue Inspector was sentenced to four years of imprisonment and Rs. 3 lakh fine for accepting bribe. 

The Lokayuktha court sentenced the Revenue Inspector Sriram for accepting bribe.

It has been reported that, Laxminarayana had purchased an industrial shed at Peenya Industrial Area, he had submitted an application to the BBMP for transferring the Khata documents of the lands. Revenue Inspector Sriram had been ordered by the BBMP Additional Commissioner to file a detailed report about it. However, Sriram extended a demand for Rs 2 Lakh from Laxminarayana for completing the report.

Laxminarayana filed a complaint with the Lokayukta office against Sriram. Sriram was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 on October 7, 2013.

Judge Ravindra Hegde has ordered a fine Rs 1 Lakh under Section 7, four years imprisonment under Section 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) and Rs 2 Lakh fine under 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
