Conmen with ‘wedding invites’ rob lone woman of gold ornaments

Mangaluru: An unsuspecting lone woman who did not sense any danger from two persons, who had arrived at her doorstep with a marriage invitation ended up losing gold ornaments weighing up to 20 sovereigns on Monday, August 20.
The incident took place on Monday morning when the victim’s husband Lathif, a Mangalanagara resident had stepped out to drop their children to school. The persons, one of whom was burqa-clad had gained entry into the house on the pretext of handing the wedding invites, and once inside the duo are said to have threatened the woman to part away with the valuables before fleeing the scene.
A complaint in this regard was filed at Konaje police station who arrived at the crime scene and begun probe into the case.
Meanwhile, it is suspected that the robbers were well-acquainted with the family and had prior knowledge of the valuables kept at home as also other details.
