Bengaluru: A teenager girl from Girinagar has caught public attention after she posed a question, in Sanskrit language to PM Modi during his Mann Ki Baat programme.

The girl, Chinmayee, a class 10 student, had been desiring to talk to Prime Minister and finally got lucky on the occasion of the World Sanskrit Day. After repeated attempts on earlier occasions, Chinmayee’s father Lakshminarayana Bhuvanakote managed to get through the call, made on the toll-free number on Sunday and put his daughter on the line.

An elated Chinmayee greeted the Prime Minister in Sanskrit and went on to say, “I speak in Sanskrit as today(Sunday) is Sanskrit day. Like myself, several others too speak in Sanskrit. What do you think about the Sanskrit language?”

In reply, Modi said, “BhaginiChinmayee, भवती संस्कृत –प्रश्न पृष्टवत्ती|( Sister Chinmayee has asked a question in Sanskrit). Excellent, extraordinary. My salutations to you. On the occasion of Sanskrit week, I extend my best wishes to all countrymen.”

“I am extremely thankful to young Chinmayee for touching upon this subject. Friends, apart from Rakshabandhan, ShravanPoornima is also celebrated as Sanskrit Day. I congratulate all those actively involved in preserving & conserving this glorious heritage, helping it to reach out to the masses. Every language has its own significance, sanctity,” he added

Chimnayee says that she still cant believe that she got a chance to speak to the Prime Minister while expresssing her pleasure.

Chinmayee’s mother and father are both Kannadigas and have learnt the Sanskrit language. Notably, Chimnayee converses with  her parents and neighbours in Sanskrit  language itself.
