Bengaluru: Come September 16, airfare for travellers flying out of Kempegowda International Airport will become less costly.
The reduction in the airfare comes on account of the reduction in user development fee (UDF) as suggested by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). Passengers flying to international destinations will now have to pay Rs 1137 lesser per ticket owing to the slash in the UDF and for domestic passengers, it means a reduced cost of Rs 245 per ticket.
Currently, a UDF of Rs 1,537 is being collected from international air passengers and Rs 384 from domestic passengers.
As per the AERA order, issued on August 31, these fares will be effective till March 31, 2019. The UDFs will be revised upwards gradually from April 1, 2019 and April 1, 2020.
However, an airport official said that the reduced UDFs may not have much impact on the airfares since the same is dictated by dynamic pricing.
