Bengaluru: An Uber driver allegedly slept off during a drop and the passenger was forced to drive himself car to his destination.

Surya Orungati, who booked an Uber cab from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to his of residence, was left with no choice but to drive as the driver dosed off during the ride.

Orungati tweeted about his experience saying that since the driver was drunk and drowsy, he had the car pulled over and drive back home. He also uploaded an image of himself in the driver’s seat and the driver  in the passenger’s seat. Surya kept tweeting updates about the incident and even made a video. The driver.

“Uber India, the ride back from Bangalore airport was not quite what I expected. The driver was drunk and drowsy. I had to pull the car over to the side and I drove all the way home. Pic with the driver in the rider seat passed out. You need to fix this,” he wrote in a tweet.

In a subsequent tweet, he shared a video of the driver stating that driver who had shown up to pick him up at the airport was not the driver claimed by the app.

“This driver behavior needs to be caught and handled as it is a very serious safety issue. This is most common to and from airports at night in India. Having a person checking for this before starting trip should be doable,” he wrote in a subsequent message.

Later he tweeted, “Uber safety team promptly called back after 20 hours and said I shouldn’t drive a cab because that’s a safety issue. And that they’ll educate the driver whatever that means and might terminate the driver if there’s recurrence,” he wrote.
